AI Erase, AI Upscale, AI Complete and the Timeline

The Online Workspace can do more than cut objects out. With AI Erase you remove people or objects and let AI fill in the background behind them; with AI Upscale you enlarge the whole image 2x or sharpen only the objects you pick. Both work on the canvas with objects SAM 3 has already found, and every result is added as a new version on the image's timeline.

Where to find them

After you upload an image and scan it (Quick Mode) or start a conversation (AI Agent), two buttons sit next to the canvas:

• Remove objects: AI Erase. The area to erase shows in red.
• Upscale: AI Upscale. The area to upscale shows in blue.

A single object can also be handled from its preview: click an object, then use AI erase or AI upscale in the preview panel.

AI Complete is in the object preview only: it redraws one object whole and sharp.

AI features need an image you uploaded yourself; they are not available on the sample images.

Choosing the area

Both modes share the same three tools:

The Edge margin slider grows picked objects by a few pixels so hair and clothing edges come out clean; the margin shows in the preview too. Use Clear to start over.

What you see in red or blue is exactly what the AI works on. It never widens the area on its own.

AI Erase

1. Click Remove objects.
2. Pick the people or objects to remove. Add shadows and anything held or attached with Paint.
3. Check the red area, then click Erase · 5 credits.

The AI usually takes 30–60 seconds. Only a crop around the red area is sent to the model, and only pixels inside the red area are taken from its answer, so:

• Nothing outside the red area changes, not a single pixel.
• The image keeps its full resolution. Sending a whole photo to an image model returns a picture of about one megapixel; AI Erase does not.
• Inside the red area is exactly what the AI drew, with no further retouching. If something is left, such as the object's shadow, paint it and erase again.

If something is left over, paint it and erase again on the new version. That usually works better than a very large area on the first try.

Each erase costs 5 credits, however many objects you pick.

AI Upscale

1. Click Upscale.
2. Choose what to upscale:
   • Pick nothing to enlarge the whole image 2x (images up to 2048 px).
   • Pick objects or paint an area to let AI sharpen only that area. The rest is enlarged the plain way and stays pixel-for-pixel the same as a normal enlargement, so backgrounds keep their natural grain.
   • On an image already larger than 2048 px, a picked area is sharpened while the image keeps its size.
3. The bar shows the result size before you pay, for example Whole image 640×960 → 1280×1920. Click Upscale · 1 credit.

The AI usually takes 10–30 seconds. An object upscaled from its preview (AI upscale · Upscale 2x) comes back cut out on a transparent background: SegmentLens enlarges the original photo around the object and then cuts it out again at the new size, so the edge stays smooth.

Things to know:

• AI adds plausible detail, not real detail. Always check small text, model numbers and logos after upscaling.
• An upscaled version cannot be upscaled again. A second pass invents texture the photo never had.
• Pick the whole object. If the area's edge cuts across a continuous surface, the texture can differ on either side.

Each upscale costs 1 credit: whole image, area or a single object.

AI Complete

Use it from an object's preview, for an object that is partly hidden behind something, cut off by the photo's edge, or blurry.

1. Click the object to open its preview.
2. Under AI complete, click Complete · 10 credits.

The AI gets the photo around the object and the object cut out, and draws the whole object, sharp, in about a minute. The result shows in the preview; switch Before / After to compare, and download it as a PNG on a transparent background.

Good to know:

• The whole object is redrawn, so the visible part gets sharp too.
• What was hidden is the AI's guess. It may not match the real object, above all text, logos and patterns. Check product photos before you use them.
• An object held at an angle may come back upright.
• The photo itself does not change, so nothing is added to the timeline. The result is kept under AI results.

The timeline

An AI edit never overwrites your image. Each erase or upscale adds a version to the image's Timeline, starting from the Original.

• Go back any time. Click any version on the timeline to work on it again.
• Hold to compare. Press and hold Hold to compare to see the previous version until you let go.
• Continue from any step. Editing an earlier version adds the new result at the end of the timeline; nothing earlier is lost.
• Objects follow the version. After an upscale doubles the size, the outlines of the objects found earlier double too, so you can keep picking, cutting out, erasing and downloading.
• One timeline for Quick Mode and AI Agent. An image opened in AI Agent brings its versions along, and Remove objects and Upscale work there too; results from either mode land on the same timeline.
• Saved to your account. Versions come back after a refresh, on another device, and when you reopen the image from history.

AI results are also listed in the AI results tab of your history, where you can download them again at no charge.

Failures and refunds

If the AI service errors, times out, or its safety system refuses the image or the result, the credits are refunded automatically and the message says why. Safety systems sometimes refuse images with people or brands by mistake; adjusting the area and trying again often helps. If an edit finished but the new version could not be saved, click Save again: you are not charged twice.
